Alternative Provision
Alternative Provision Services
Our experienced SEND tutors work collaboratively with children and young people, families, schools and local authorities to provide individualised education for learners who need something different from a traditional educational setting.
Our provision is person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming, with access to specialist professional input, including Occupational Therapy and therapeutic support, where appropriate.
Alternative Provision
Respectrum Advisory Services provides personalised alternative provision for children and young people across all key stages whose needs are not currently being met within traditional education.
We support neurodivergent learners and children and young people with SEND, including those experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, barriers to attendance or engagement, risk of exclusion, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and those accessing Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS).
Provision is designed around the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit a predetermined programme. We work collaboratively with the child or young person, their family, education setting and commissioning professionals to develop meaningful, achievable outcomes.
How we can help
Our provision is designed around the individual needs, strengths, interests and aspirations of each child or young person and can include:
Individual 1:1 and 2:1 education delivered at home, within the community and in other suitable learning environments
Academic learning tailored to the learner’s individual starting point, interests and educational goals
Functional skills and opportunities to develop independence.
Community-based learning, social connection and meaningful participation
Person-centred, neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approaches
Support for emotional wellbeing, regulation, confidence and self-advocacy
Flexible approaches to rebuilding engagement with learning.
Individualised communication and sensory support where required
Collaborative working with families, education settings, local authorities and other professionals.
Provision designed around EHCP outcomes and individual educational goals where applicable.
Every programme is individually designed around the child or young person, linked to their EHCP outcomes, regularly reviewed and adapted as their strengths, needs, interests and aspirations develop.
Meaningful Outcomes
Our aim is meaningful and sustainable progress for each individual. Outcomes may include renewed engagement with education, academic progress, increased confidence and independence, improved emotional regulation, greater participation within the community and preparation for positive next steps.
Progress is measured against the individual child or young person’s starting point, agreed goals and, where applicable, their EHCP outcomes.
Where We Work
Respectrum provides commissioned Alternative Provision across Suffolk and Norfolk, where we are an approved Alternative Provision provider. Provision outside these areas may be considered on an individual basis. Provision can take place in the child or young person’s home, within their local community or in other learning environments, depending on their individual programme.
Locations are agreed collaboratively with families and commissioning teams, taking account of the young person’s needs, accessibility, safety and the intended outcomes of the provision.
Case Studies/Testimonials
Testimonial from a parent of a child who receives provision from Respectrum.
“As a parent of a child with complex SEND needs, finding the right support can feel overwhelming.
Respectrum provided understanding, flexible and truly personalised support when traditional education was no longer working for our child. Their neuro-affirming approach helped rebuild confidence, reduce anxiety and gradually re-engage our child with learning. The relationship-based support and focus on the whole child has made a significant difference to both our child and our family. Communication with us is excellent and we receive regular updates and feedback, which has helped us feel supported and involved throughout the process”
